Mendip Outdoor Instructor Training is a part of Mendip Adventure. Together, we aspire to be an industry-leader in the world of adventure training.
Mendip Adventure are always looking for motivated, passionate and brilliant instructors. Working for us means working in a variety of outdoor environments with a wide range of groups. You’ll work both independently and as part of a team to facilitate activity sessions.
Each day, you could be training new instructors, working with schools, corporate, families, private groups, or individuals. Many of our instructors work for us year-round, expanding their skills to gain winter qualifications.

JOB VACANCIES
Full-time Lead Outdoor Instructor
Contract: Full time - on an initial fixed term 12 month contract
Interview Date: As available
Start Date: As available
Salary: £27,550 to £29,250 (dependent on qualifications)
Bonus: £1,500 (paid after completion of 12 months)
If you are an experienced instructor/facilitator with higher-level qualifications, this may be the perfect role for you, leading our advanced sessions, training other staff members or coaching on our Outdoor Instructor Training Courses.
Qualifications
Must have

At least 3 years experience in the industry
Must have - or be working towards - at least 1 of the qualifications below:

Paddlesport Touring Leader

Rock Climbing Development Instructor
Must have at least 3 of the other qualifications below:

D1 + CPC

Rock Climbing Instructor

Paddlesport Leader or above

Cave Leader

Mountain Leader Summer

Ski/Snowboard qualifications such as BASI L1 / SSE L1 +

Seasonal Outdoor Instructor
Contract: 16th March 2026 - 6th September 2026
Interview Date: As available
Salary: £27,300-£28,425 (dependent on qualifications & experience)
Holiday: 28 days pro rata
We are looking for an Outdoor Instructor with a Rock Climbing Instructor qualification to join us initially on a summer contract, with the potential to extend this contract.
We’re looking for someone who has a positive outlook, professionalism, promptness and who works well under pressure. You’ll possess strong communication skills, and excellent presentation skills and enjoy a varied and challenging programme.
Qualifications
Must have

Rock Climbing Instructor (RCI) or equivalent
Other Qualifications you may possess:

Paddlesport Instructor, Leader or Coach

BCA - LCLA L1 – ideally with Mendip caves

D1 Licence + CPC

- British Orienteering – TOP 1 or 2

Freelance Outdoor Instructor
Contract: Freelance

Salary: Varies dependent on qualifications and work

Job Locations
Mendip Activity Centre is based in the Mendip Hills National Landscape, Somerset. It is close to Bristol and Weston-super-Mare with great access to the wider South West. Some of our work takes us around the South West and nationally.
