We dug into the archives and found out where some of our past training instructors have ended up...
Tim was Mendip's very first training instructor over 25 years ago and he still works for us! The heart of the company, he now manages the entire estate and all our land - and still manages to find time to get out and instruct activity sessions.
After completing her outdoor instructor training, Bethan made the most of her newly discovered outdoor skills and enjoyed travelling. When she returned, she set up own outdoor education company and she is now teaching languages.
Paul worked as a full time outdoor instructor, where he went on to successfully run an outdoor instructor training scheme. Discovering a skill for logistics and operations, he now works as an operation manager of an outdoor centre.
Saffron graduated from our scheme and quickly picked up work as a freelance instructor. Alongside this, she trained to become a first aid tutor and then ultimately a PE and outdoor pursuits teacher in a school.
Kyle managed to turn his passion for climbing into a career whilst training to be an outdoor instructor, so much so he bought a van and now spends half the year travelling Europe climbing! The other half of the year he works as a freelance instructor and has recently started his own climbing development company.
After graduation, Ollie worked at Mendip in a variety of roles, starting as a seasonal instructor and then becoming a full time senior instructor. He then went on to rule the ski slopes in Austria! He now works as a freelance instructor, converts campervans and still spends his winters in the snow.
sarah and rich
Rich and Sarah both trained at the same time at Mendip. They fell in love, went to work for Outward Bound in the Lake District together and now have set up and run their own outdoor company in Scotland.
Dave trained at Mendip in the late ‘90s. He then went on to work for Mendip as a full time instructor. He’s now the Managing Director and has successfully grown the company into the size it is now, including taking on our current site and snowsport centre.
